Performing some agricultural operations such as pistachio shell irrigation - foliar spraying and winter pruning and the harvest or picking season have different effects on smiling pistachios. According to studies conducted in Palestine, if the salinity of water reaches 4000 mg / l, the percentage of production of smiling pistachios will decrease.
However, studies in California to determine the relative tolerance of Atlantica and Antigrima rootstocks and their two vessels against melting salinity have not shown significant effects of water salinity on pistachio not smiling in these rootstocks. It is hoped that by following the studies and tests performed on the base and scion of pistachios, more information will be obtained as soon as possible about the effect of the base and scion or the amount of salinity in smiling pistachios.
